Jacksonville State is behind the eight ball at running back to start the season with the news Ron Wiggins will be out due to a toe injury, SI’s Kyron Samuels notes. Wiggins was projected to be heavily featured by the Gamecocks, but they will need to look elsewhere in 2024.There is hope he can return down the stretch but it’s reported it will be a minimum 10 weeks.
With Wiggins out, expect Anwar Lewis to receive more work in the rushing game. There is no significant fantasy upside in this backfield, given the lack of clarity behind Lewis, including the status of Georgia transfer Andrew Paul. Wiggins was ranked as RB97 in Campus2Canton’s college fantasy rankings.
