Week three is on the horizon. Can’t stop. Won’t stop. I’ve seen what I’ve seen in two weeks and have some strong opinions.
Rant Time- What’s the Freaking Point?

Why even have Avery Johnson, a 247Sports Freaks List member and stud athlete, if you aren’t going to run him? He had just three carries in a loss to Army and averages just over five designed run calls per game. This is like buying an Aston Martin and then using it to haul your boat to the lake. Absolute coaching malpractice by the K-State staff two years in a row. We need some big donor in West Virginia or Arkansas to make him an offer he can’t refuse so that he can thrive in a system that fits him in 2026. But instead, he will probably end up with some yardbird play-caller again, like Billy Napier.
Hot Seat Heat Check

Bubbling Over: Brent Pry
Buddy…it’s a crawfish boil and they just snatched yo’ ass from the mud. You better not lose to Old Dom. And good luck in November against Louisville, at FSU, Miami, and at Virginia…if you make it to November.
Oven Is Pre-Heated: Billy Napier
You missed one of your layups with USF. Now, you have games at LSU, Miami, Texas, and A&M for your next four, and eight of your remaining ten are against ranked opponents. This administration allowing Billy to continue calling plays with his “Jesus, take the wheel” approach and ruining these quality offensive assets like Lagway, Wilson, Baugh, and Brown is like handing a 4-year-old a box of M-80s with a lighter and acting surprised when he comes back with eight fingers. It’s just dumb.
The New Oregon?

The genesis of the Ducks’ rise to prominence started in the mid to late 2000s when they (and by they I really mean Phil Knight) decided to invest more resources into the program than anyone else on the West Coast or in the Pac-10. Back then, it was primarily facilities. Nowadays, the main investment is NIL.
Could Texas Tech be the next Oregon? Mega donor Cody Campbell has been very vocal about going above and beyond to buy talent. And it seems to be working, as they have already committed two of the top ten recruits in the 2027 class, and neither is located near Lubbock. They rebuilt the trenches of their current roster in the portal. They supposedly paid $900K for Reggie Virgil, which was about 50% more than his other bidders were willing to offer. No one else in the B12 is willing to come even remotely close to the Red Raiders in NIL investment. It is only a matter of time before that begins to spill over to success on the field, and we may already be seeing that in 2025.
Pour One Out For Our Hommie J-Dub

Jahiem White had 148 yards and 3 TDs through a game and a half before his injury. He was well on his way to being the Rich Rod boss hog we all hoped and dreamed he could be. So, who fills that lucrative role now? Odds are, it starts as a committee, and Rich Rod then determines if anyone is up to the task.
Clay Ash (real name) was the primary backup through the first two weeks, and Tye Edwards was recently granted eligibility. But if I were a betting man (which I most definitely am), then my wager would be on Cyncir Bowers or Diore Hubbard to be next up. Bowers has incredible speed, but hasn’t yet learned the nuances of the position. Hubbard was beloved by the last staff and convinced to stay by the new staff, but failed to assert himself as the RB2 behind White. I bet these two get a bump in action over the next couple of weeks.
We Gone Learn Some Things

Ole Miss vs. Arkansas is easily my most anticipated CFF matchup of the weekend. It has the highest point total (61.5) of any game on Saturday, and we need some answers on the key players. How healthy is Austin Simmons, and is it possible we got way out over our skis on him? Probably. Can Harrison Wallace III maintain his near 40% receiving market share? I can’t imagine so, but he sure looks good when Drew Allar isn’t throwing him the ball. Is Taylen Green, the leading scorer in all of CFF through two weeks, a mirage? I don’t think so, but he averaged 33 PPG in non-conference play last year and just 16 PPG in SEC play, including a low 7 points against Ole Miss.
Cheers everyone and good luck with week three!
