My apologies for the Pulse missing in action last week. Week 5 will forever be about the friends we made along the way. I’m pretty punch drunk from a hell of a couple weeks at the day job, so I’m in a dumb mood, Dumb and Dumber that is. Enjoy!

My CFF Teams Got Robbed by a Sweet Old Lady on a Motorized Cart and…

-San Diego State has two different running backs that have reached the century mark in a game and neither are named Lucky Sutton.

–Bo Jackson hasn’t hit 85 yards rushing in a single game. In fact, he’s actually behind teammate Ja’Kobi Jackson in CFF production

–Savion Hiter has been objectively one of the worst RBs in the P4 with 3.2 YPC, 2.4 yards after contact/attempt, zero runs beyond 15 yards, and just 5 missed tackles forced on 45 attempts. Marshall has been bad, but Hiter has been bad bad.

A Dumb Level of (TD) Efficiency

Wayshawn Parker has 9 TDs on 65 touches. This simply isn’t sustainable. For perspective, he scored 9 TDs last year but it took him 162 touches. He’s actually averaging the exact same YPC (6.6) and less YPR than he did last year.

One significant change is that Byrd Ficklin had 10 rushing TDs last year in 12 games but has only 1 through 4 games this year. Despite Ficklin playing significant snaps, he hasn’t been a focus near the goal line many of us feared he might be coming into the season. Even still, don’t expect this 13.8% TD rate to continue. This offense is a killer, but this simply isn’t sustainable for Parker.

You owe me (FAAB), Fran Brown

Liar, liar…Fran Brown’s pants are on fire. Less than 4 days after he said Steve Angeli will remain the starting QB, he wisely handed the keys to the Orange offense over to Amari Odom. I imagine I wasn’t the only one that considered picking Odom up for free after he clearly looked like the top option going into the bye week. Instead, he gets the unexpected start, goes ham on Uconn, and then forces us to pony up the FAAB budget (which I certainly did). Fran, you owe us, bro.

Stating the Obvious

The Arizona State offense has been total chaos this year, but the most maddening thing has been the usage of Omarion Miller. Despite Miller’s known strength as a deep threat, Dillingham decided to play him in the slot the first three games. This resulted in an ADOT close to just 4 yards!

Well, Dilly stopped thinking like Harry and Lloyd and made the obvious change – he flipped Vines-Bright to the slot and Miller to the boundary last week. This resulted in a season high 11.8 ADOT and 17 YPR for Miller as he went 5-85-1 vs Baylor. Expect this to continue and Miller to finally be a consistent deep threat for Gutter, oops, I mean Cutter, Boley.

The Freshmen We Have Been Impatiently Waiting For

We saw breakouts last week from Jonaz Walton, Kenny Darby, and Trae’Shawn Brown. Those guys likely exited the player pool in your leagues this week. So, who are the freshmen that have shown signs of life and could find their names on next week’s waiver wire reports? I got you:

KJ Edwards, RB – Texas AM

Cardae Mack, RB – Arizona State

Deuce Lawrence, RB – Wake Forest

Solomon Baggett, RB – Arkansas State

Brian Bonner, RB – Washington

Messiah Hampton, WR – Oregon

OU vs texas Week

No, it’s not one in a million chance that my Sooners pull the upset. But it’s close. The Arbuckle offense lacks an identity- all the offseason talk of being a physical run team was quickly pissed into the empty beer bottles from the passenger seat and then served to the Sooner faithful like Lloyd Christmas did to the state trooper. I’m sure the air raid will work great when the guard you start at left tackle and the right tackle both have a PFF pass blocking grade of 49.2 and have to face Colin Simmons. You simply can’t start any Sooners in this rivalry matchup. It’s about to go from bad to worse. 27-10 texas.

Cheers and good luck in Week 6!
