The 2024 season is upon us. Are you ready? Hopefully, you’re in for a winning campaign. But those of us who play Dynasty know it’s a 365-day-a-year endeavor. When we’re in season, it’s about patching roster holes and making pickups that can benefit you long-term.

Below are the players on your Waiver Wire that might be worth targeting. As we begin bye weeks, that will be even more crucial. All roster percentages are courtesy of the NFL.

Quarterbacks

Jameis Winston, Cleveland Browns

Roster Percentage: 0.1

About: Look, I know Kevin Stefanski said he’s sticking with Deshaun Watson. I also know the Browns are 1-5, and Watson has yet to throw for 200 yards in a game this season. Those are not inspiring statistics, especially as the season is quickly slipping away. Winston is there, and I think he’ll get a shot sooner or later. I’m picking him up.

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Roster Percentage: 1.1

About: Wilson might be more widely rostered in dynasty, but I’ve seen some release him. While I think Justin Fields has earned the starting job in Pittsburgh, you never know. Wilson is healthy now, and Mike Tomlin has been his biggest supporter. Given the quarterback landscape, it’s also possible Wilson could be a trade target in the next few weeks. Either way, he’s worth a stash.

Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints

Roster Percentage: 0.9

About: Rattler made his first start Sunday and figures to start again Thursday night. Could his starting stint go longer? It could. We saw Anthony Richardson with an oblique injury, and he’s missed three straight weeks. Rattler is also a good hold in dynasty, so pick him up if he’s not rostered.

Running Backs

Isaac Guerendo and Patrick Taylor, San Francisco 49ers

Roster Percentage: 0.4; 0.1

About: The 49ers have had a rough time with running backs. Elijah Mitchell and Christian McCaffrey are on IR, and now Jordan Mason has an AC Joint injury. That means he’s no lock to play in Week 7, and even if he does, he could be limited. It’s a next-man-up league, and Guerendo and Taylor are the next men up. If I had to choose, I like Guerendo the best as I think he carries most of the load.

Sean Tucker, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Roster Percentage: 0.2

About: When Tucker was snagged as an undrafted free agent last off-season, I was intrigued. But he didn’t have much of a role in 2023 and didn’t make much of an impact in early 2024. So, like me, you might have put him on the wire. But with Rachaad White injured, we saw Tucker join Bucky Irving in the backfield. And he was impressive, going for 136 yards rushing and 56 yards receiving, scoring two touchdowns. He’s worth a stash.

Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers

Roster Percentage: 0.4

About: Gus Edwards is now on IR, giving the rookie Vidal a chance to step up and earn touches alongside J.K. Dobbins. On Sunday, that resulted in a 38-yard touchdown strike. He didn’t have a lot of touchesβ€”only four carries and two receptionsβ€”but he’s got a role now, and he’s worth a stash.

D’Ernest Johnson, Jacksonville Jaguars

Roster Percentage: 0

About: Travis Etienne is dealing with a hamstring injury, leaving him questionable for Week 7. Tank Bigsby should be in line for more carries, but he won’t do it alone. Johnson played the most snaps Sunday and was the most effective back, rushing for 28 yards on six carries and catching two passes. He should be rostered, especially for those with Etienne on the squad.

Wide Receivers

Kayshon Boutte, New England Patriots

Roster Percentage: 0

About: Boutte had a nice day with Drake Maye in the starting lineup for the Patriots. He caught three passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. He only had three targets, and the Patriots offense is still a work in progress, but it was a nice game. Boutte is worth a stash, especially now that Maye is the starter.

Bub Means, New Orleans Saints

Roster Percentage: 0

About: The rookie had a good day with Spencer Rattler starting. Chris Olave went out with a concussion, making him questionable on a short week. With A.T. Perry no longer on the roster, Means has an opportunity. He caught five passes for 45 yards and a touchdown on eight targets. He’s worth a pickup.

Devaughn Vele, Denver Broncos

Roster Percentage: 0

About: Vele was a trendy pickup after catching eight passes in Week 1. Then he kind of disappeared. That was due in part to a rib injury. But with Josh Reynolds now on IR, there’s an opening. Troy Franklin was more involved in Week 6, but so was Vele. He led the team with four receptions for 78 yards. He has good chemistry with Bo Nix, and he’s worth adding to the Week 7 run.

Tight Ends

Grant Calcaterra, Philadelphia Eagles

Roster Percentage: 0.1

About: Dallas Goedert left with a soft tissue injury on the game’s third snap. Calcaterra stepped up and stepped in, catching four passes for 67 yards. Goedert has been a reliable fantasy option, in the Top 12 each week the Eagles have played. With him out, Calcaterra will have an opportunity and could be a good streaming pickup.
