CJ Ogbonna

In a somewhatΒ surprising turn of events, Pete LemboΒ confirmed after practice on Thursday that CJ Ogbonna was named the starter at Buffalo. Ogbonna and Old Dominion transfer Jack Shields were neck and neck down the stretch, with the latter seemingly having the edge.

Ogbonna is a run-first quarterback who played in 2023 but didn’t start a game for the Bulls. Fist year coach Pete Lembo made this a true competition in the offseason. The passing game is what will hold Ogbonna back as he went 8/21 for 87 yards last year.

Ogbonna is unranked at Campus2Canton but might have sneaky upside late in deep league drafts. He is a dual-threat quarterback who can potentially be a difference-maker in MAC play.
