Both traditional college football fans and the college fantasy community are watching the Michigan quarterback battle closely. That battle is down to third year player and athletic specimen Alex Orji, class of 2020 senior Davis Warren, and class of 2018 graduate transfer Jack Tuttle (Utah, Indiana).

Thus far in camp, “one quarterback has not yet separated themsel[ves] from the rest of the group,” according to reporting from On3’s Kaiden Smith and The Wolverine’s Clayton Sayfie.

Orji is reported to have shown improvement as a passer, but its Warren who was said to be the best passer in camp by defensive back teamate Quinten Johnson.

Smith and Sayfie believe it possible that Michigan uses a quarterback by committee approach. “[I]t’ll be interesting to see kind of how it plays out, and I think they could still use multiple quarterbacks,” said Sayfie.

Orji has appeared in Bruce Feldman’s annual “Freaks” list in each of the last two seasons. His 2024 profile noted his 41 inch vertical, a broad-jump of 10-7, a 6.62 second 3-cone drill time and a 4.06 second time in the pro agility shuttle.

Orji is the quarterback 55 in Campus2Canton’s C2C rankings.
