Which moves should you make to maximize your points? Use this weekly post as your guide, as I offer one start and one sit suggestion at QB, RB, WR, and TE. These suggestions are based on my rankings compared to the consensus each week. To measure our success, check back each week for a recap of how I did.
For this project, a start is a player I think will finish in the Top 12 at QB or TE and the Top 24 at RB or WR. A sit is a player I think will finish outside those metrics. In the coming weeks, I’ll start with a recap of how I finished the prior week. All scoring will be courtesy of Fantasy Pros.
Before we move forward, let’s see how we did in Week 2.
Week 2 Starts
QB: Baker Mayfield, QB21 Miss. The Buccaneers’ woes continue.
RB: Derrick Henry, RB6 Hit. Henry is on fire.
WR: Mike Evans, WR44 Miss. Evans came out early with injury.
TE: Hunter Henry, TE22 Miss. Henry didn’t get the volume.
Start Record: 1-3
Week 2 Sits
QB: Joe Burrow, QB15 Hit. He was good, not great.
RB: Tony Pollard, RB36 Hit. Pollard isn’t getting enough production.
WR: D.K. Metcalf, WR56 Hit. The Steelers’ offense is a mess.
TE: Kyle Pitts, TE56 Hit. They just aren’t using Pitts.
Sit Record: 4-0
Now, on to the Week 3 picks!
Quarterbacks

Start: Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
About: The Lions have gotten off to an uneven start. The team is 1-1, but they’ve allowed 71 points in two games. That’s not great. But it’s also not a reflection of the offense. The Lions’ offense has scored 66 points in two games. Goff was on fire against the Bills, chucking four touchdowns to try and keep his team in it. This week, he faces the Jets at home. The Jets smothered the Titans, but the Lions aren’t the Titans. I expect Goff to score plenty because the Lions have to score plenty to win.
Sit: Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
About: The Chargers have been woeful through two weeks, piling up double-digit home losses to the Cardinals and Raiders. Now, they hit the road to face a red-hot Buffalo Bills team on 10 days’ rest. Let’s just say I’m not bullish on their chances of catching fire. Herbert is QB26 through two weeks. He’s not in my lineup. He’s a dicey option in superflex.
Running Backs

Start: Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
About: Hubbard began the season coming off a soft-tissue injury and splitting time with Jonathon Brooks. It didn’t matter. He posted a Top 12 finish in Week 1 and has continued to look good. Now, Brooks is out for a few weeks, meaning an even bigger workload for Hubbard as the Panthers hit the road to battle the Cleveland Browns. I like him to be a solid RB2 start this week.
Sit: Broncos‘ RBs
About: I like J.K. Dobbins. I like R.J. Harvey. I thought Jonah Coleman looked good last week. Tyler Badie has even flashed. But the Broncos are home against the Rams this week, which isn’t a great matchup. And Dobbins, Harvey, and Coleman are all on the injury report, which isn’t a great sign. That has me staying away. It’s going to be a committee, and without a touchdown, I don’t think anyone will get enough work to come close to a Top 24 finish. In addition, given their injuries, it’s hard to tell who will even be available.
Wide Receivers

Start: DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
About: Smith and Jalen Hurts have shown great chemistry so far this season. Smith is settling in as the No. 1 receiver and making the most of it. He’s WR11 on the season. With Dallas Goedert hurt and out for a few weeks, he figures to be an even bigger focus of the pass offense as the Eagles hit the road Monday night to battle the Bears.
Sit: George Pickens, Dallas Cowboys
About: I like Pickens, and I liked his fit with the Cowboys in 2025. But much of that was spurred by CeeDee Lamb’s injuries. While I think they could both be Top 12 WRs in this offense, we haven’t seen it yet. Lamb continues to soar, but Pickens has been something of an afterthought. Pickens is just WR45 on the season. Playing the Ravens on the road in Brazil this week, I don’t think Pickens will break out.
Tight Ends

Start: Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans
About: The Texans need weapons and are desperate for a win in Indianapolis this week. Nico Collins is still dealing with a hamstring issue, while Tank Dell and Jayden Higgins remain out. Schultz stepped up into the gap in Week 2, catching 12 passes for 140 yards to lead the team. I like him to be a focal point for C.J. Stroud again in Week 3.
Sit: Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears
About: Loveland has just one reception for three yards in two games. I love Loveland, and I love his talent, but he’s not a big part of the offensive attack right now. And this week the Bears are likely without Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent, which makes the offense an even bigger unknown. Loveland could have a breakout, but for now I’m benching him until we see signs that he’s a focus for the Bears’ pass offense.
