The 2024 NFL Season is here, and with it comes some lineup questions. Which moves should you make to maximize your points? Let this weekly post be your guide as I offer one start and one sit suggestion at QB, RB, WR, and TE. These suggestions are based on my rankings against consensus each week. Because we want to measure our success, we check back each week for a recap of how we did.

For the purposes of this project, a start is a player I think will finish Top 12 at QB or TE and Top 24 at RB or WR. A sit is a player I think will finish outside those metrics. Before we dive into this week’s suggestions, let’s review how we did last week. All scoring is courtesy of Fantasy Pros.

Week 12 Starts

QB: Kyler Murray, QB23 Miss. Murray did not have a good week.
RB: De’Von Achane, RB6 Hit. Achane continues to tear it up.
WR: Courtland Sutton, WR2 Hit. Sutton is on fire for the Broncos.
TE: Brock Bowers, TE19 Miss. Bowers couldn’t get past the Broncos’ defense.
Start Record: 2-2

Week 12 Sits

QB: Tommy DeVito, QB25 Hit. DeVito isn’t the answer for the Giants.
RB: Rico Dowdle, RB19 Miss. Dowdle had a great day for the Cowboys.
WR: Jakobi Myers, WR7 Miss. Myers had a big day for the Raiders.
TE: Noah Gray, TE3 Miss. Gray had another two-touchdown day for the Chiefs.
Sit Record: 1-3

Week 12 wasn’t great for me, so let’s hope for better in Week 13. Now, on to the picks.

Quarterbacks

Start: Bo Nix, Denver Broncos

About: Nix had a rough start to the season, but he’s been hot lately. He’s tracking toward being Rookie of the Year and has the Broncos in position to make the playoffs. He’s QB7 on the season, averaging more than 18 points per game. The Broncos host the Browns on Monday Night Football, and I’m firing up Nix.

Sit: Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets

About: Rodgers’ presence in New York was supposed to be the answer for the Jets. It’s not. He’s just QB19 on the season, and the Jets are a woeful 3-8. This week, they host the Seattle Seahawks, who are fighting for a playoff spot and boast a solid defense. Rodgers isn’t a QB1 option.

Running Backs

Start: Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers

About: Jacobs has been a great addition to the Green Bay Packers lineup. He’s RB9 on the season and has 20 or more fantasy points in four of the last five Packers games. The 8-3 Packers are chasing the Lions and the Vikings in the NFC North and fighting for a Wild Card spot. They host the Dolphins for a massive clash on Thanksgiving night, and Jacobs figures to be the engine that drives the Packers’ offense. He’s a start for me.

Sit: Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots

About: I like Stevenson’s talent, but this Patriots’ offense has been all over the place. That’s led to a lot of inconsistency for Stevenson and those who roster him in fantasy. He’s RB22 on the season, but it’s been a boom-bust sort of season. In a week with all 32 teams in action, I’m not trusting Stevenson as a Top 24 option.

Wide Receivers

Start: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks

About: In his second year, JSN has taken a step up for the Seahawks. The Seahawks are fighting for the NFC West title, and JSN has been a key cog on offense. He’s WR8 on the season, averaging more than 15 points per game. He’s also had 19 or more points in each of the last two weeks with D.K. Metcalf back in the lineup. JSN is delivering on his draft capital, and he should be in your fantasy lineup.

Sit: Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

About: Samuel has a big contract and some big talent, but he hasn’t produced like it this season. The 49ers are reeling at 5-6, with injuries taking a heavy toll. He’s only WR42 on the season, with less than seven points in each of the past two games. Jauan Jennings has stepped up, and Christian McCaffrey is back; all that’s left Samuel with a lesser role. He’s on my bench for now.

Tight Ends

Start: Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals

About: McBride continues to be the go-to guy in the Cardinals’ offense. McBride is TE3 on the season and has been perhaps the most consistent part of the Cardinals’ passing offense. The Cardinals have a huge game against the Vikings this season and McBride will be a big part of the attack. He’s a start for me.

Sit: T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings

About: Hockenson is a good talent, and we’ve seen him produce big for the Vikings in this offense. But the Vikings have a lot of weapons, which leads to a limited target share. Hockenson has two big games and two dud games in the four weeks since he’s been back. He’s alternated games, too. Last week was a big game. He’s on the bench for me this week.
