The 2024 NFL Season is here, and with it comes some lineup questions. Which moves should you make to maximize your points? Let this weekly post be your guide as I offer one start and one sit suggestion at QB, RB, WR, and TE. These suggestions are based on my rankings against consensus each week. Because we want to measure our success, we check back each week for a recap of how we did.

For this project, a start is a player I think will finish Top 12 at QB or TE and Top 24 at RB or WR. A sit is a player I think will finish outside those metrics. Before we dive into this week’s suggestions, let’s review how we did last week. All scoring is courtesy of Fantasy Pros.

Week 13 Starts

QB: Bo Nix, QB26 Miss. It wasn’t a great night for Nix, but the team won!
RB: Josh Jacobs, RB5 Hit. Jacobs had another great game, and the Packers won on Thursday.
WR: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR33 Miss. He was Seattle’s top receiver, but it wasn’t Top 24.
TE: Trey McBride, TE3 Hit. McBride continues to pace an up-and-down Cardinals passing attack.
Start Record: 2-2

Week 13 Sits

QB: Aaron Rodgers, QB23 Hit. Rodgers isn’t putting up big fantasy numbers.
RB: Rhamondre Stevenson, RB21 Miss. Stevenson wasn’t great, but he finished in the Top 24.
WR: Deebo Samuel, WR82 Hit. Samuel just hasn’t been a good bet this season.
TE: T.J. Hockenson, TE30 Hit. Hockenson isn’t getting consistent volume.
Sit Record: 3-1

Now, on to the Week 14 Picks.

Quarterbacks

Start: Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

About: The Bengals haven’t been great this season, but that’s not on Joey B. He’s QB3 on the season and continues to put up big numbers despite the team’s overall struggles. He gets the Cowboys on Monday night, and I expect another huge week. He’s in your lineup.

Sit: Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons

About: Cousins’ time in Atlanta hasn’t gone as we’d hoped. He’s just QB20 on the season, and the past three games have been worse than that. Cousins and the Falcons are in a slump. He hasn’t tossed a touchdown pass in three weeks. And now, the Falcons are on the road against a stout Vikings team with a good defense. He’s not a Top 12 option.

Running Backs

Start: Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

About: Irving has come on late and has become the back to roster for the Buccaneers. He’s RB16 on the season and has been red-hot on the Buccaneers’ winning streak with more than 27 PPR points in the past two games. He’s doing it on the ground and in the air, and he belongs in your lineup.

Sit: Raiders Running Backs

About: The Raiders are 2-10 and the season has spiraled out of control. Among the team’s issues is the lack of consistent production in the running game. Alexander Mattison and Zamir White are ailing, and both have missed the last two games. Neither is a lock this week, either. That’s left Ameer Abdullah and Sincere McCormick to carry the load. Neither has been impressive for fantasy. In short, the Raiders’ backfield is a giant mess, and even with six teams on a bye, I’m staying away.

Wide Receivers

Start: Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers

About: McConkey is pacing the Chargers’ passing game. He’s WR15 on the season and has become the main cog for Justin Herbert. He’s been even better the past six games, sitting as WR9 as the Chargers have solidified their place in the playoff race. They face a tough matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday night, and I expect McConkey to be a huge part of the offense. He’s a weekly start.

Sit: Jauan Jennings, San Francisco 49ers

About: This season hasn’t gone as expected for the 49ers. There have been injuries, blown performances, and a sub-500 season. Through it all, Jennings has been one of the steadiest pieces of the passing game. He’s got upside, but it’s hard to trust any pieces of the 49ers’ offense right now. Jennings is a fine flex option, but he’s not a Top 24 play for me this week at receiver.

Tight Ends

Start: David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

About: Njoku is TE11 on the season. He’s missed a few games and the Browns’ offense has been up-and-down, but Njoku has been a consistent target for Jameis Winston and the Browns. This is evidenced by his Week 13 output, which saw him get 17 targets. He’s a top option in what figures to be a good game with the Steelers. He’s in my lineup.

Sit: Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

About: Otton has had some huge games this season. However, Irving and Rachaad White have been going strong since Mike Evans returned, and his opportunities have diminished. He has just ten fantasy points in his past two games. It’s hard to trust he’ll get enough volume in a matchup with a poor Raiders team to be a good start.
