The 2024 season is upon us. Are you ready? Hopefully, you’re in for a winning campaign. But those of us who play Dynasty know it’s a 365-day-a-year endeavor. When we’re in season, it’s about patching roster holes and making pickups that can benefit you in the long term.
Below are the players on your Waiver Wire that might be worth targeting. We saw a fair number of quarterbacks fail to finish games in Week 15, which means you need to protect yourself for Week 16. All roster percentages are courtesy of the NFL.
Quarterbacks
Carson Wentz, Kansas City Chiefs
Roster Percentage: 0.1
About: Patrick Mahomes came out of Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. His status moving forward is unclear. Complicating matters is the fact the Chiefs have two games in the next nine days, playing on Saturday and then again on Christmas Day. It wouldn’t be a shock to see the 13-win Chiefs sit Mahomes for one or both of those games, especially with a quality option like Wentz. He’s worth a pickup if you have space.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson
Roster Percentage: 0
About: Thompson-Robinson came into the game Sunday after Jameis Winston was benched. Winston chucked three interceptions, and with the Browns at 3-11, it’s fair to wonder if they’ll look to the future. Thompson-Robinson wasn’t much better on Sunday, but he could get his shot to show what he’s learned since his rookie year. Winston was a popular pick-up in Superflex, so it’s best to be prepared.
Mason Rudolph, Tennessee Titans
Roster Percentage: 0
About: Rudolph also came in to play on Sunday, looking decent after Will Levis was benched following his own three-interception performance. The Titans are also 3-11, but it’s quite possible they’ve seen enough of Levis. That could leave you with a lineup hole. It’s worth monitoring this week.
Sam Howell, Seattle Seahawks
Roster Percentage: 0
About: The Seahawks are in the midst of a playoff race. That makes it difficult that starter Geno Smith suffered a knee injury Sunday night that forced him from the game. His status for Week 16 is up in the air, which could leave Howell as the man under center. He didn’t look good in relief, but we saw him contribute quite a bit as a starter for the Commanders in 2023. He could be worth a grab.
Running Backs
Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints
Roster Percentage: 0.9
About: Miller continues to contribute in his return from IR. He had a role on Sunday in a game that also saw Alvin Kamara leave with injury. If Kamara is out in Week 16, that opens up more opportunities for Miller, who also has some long-term stash appeal in dynasty. He’s worth a pickup.
Ty Johnson, Buffalo Bills
Roster Percentage: 0.7
About: Johnson is part of the running back rotation in Buffalo, and lately, he’s become a big part of the passing game. That yielded a good performance and a touchdown in Week 14, and he went for more than 100 yards in the pass game in Week 15. If you’re looking for a flex option, the Bills’ offense shows no signs of slowing down, and Johnson seems to have a consistent role in the group.
Sincere McCormick, Las Vegas Raiders
Roster Percentage: 16
About: McCormick is relatively highly rostered, but pick him up if he’s available in your league. He’s been named the starting running back for the Raiders. Will that hold in 2025? It’s way too early to tell. But he’s made an impression, which is a good sign heading into the off-season.
Wide Receivers
Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers
Roster Percentage: 0.1
About: Coker is a young receiver on an emerging Panthers’ offense. His role seems inconsistent, but he’s had some big moments. We saw that again on Sunday as he went for more than 100 yards and a touchdown. He’s worth a deep league stash to see how the team develops its offense this off-season.
Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Roster Percentage: 2.5
About: McMillan was an interesting prospect when he got drafted this off-season, but it has been a slow start this season. Of late, he’s picked up his game, catching nine passes and three touchdowns in the past two weeks. McMillan is an interesting flex down the stretch and a good long-term hold for a team with two aging stars at receiver.
Tight Ends
Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars
Roster Percentage: 2.5
About: Evan Engram joined the line of Jaguars out for the season this week, opening some opportunities for the second-year tight end. He responded Sunday with 11 receptions. He’s stepped up each time Engram has been out, developing as a passing game weapon. That makes him an interesting prospect for the stretch run and the long term.
Stone Smartt, Los Angeles Chargers
Roster Percentage: 0.5
About: Smartt is one of the young players filling out the Chargers’ tight end room. With Will Dissly ailing, he’s stepped in as a low-ceiling tight-end option. He has eight receptions for 104 yards in the past two games. He’s got some potential in a re-shaped Chargers’ offense, too. He’s worth a stash.
