Early Signing Day should be a national holiday so we can all sit at home and follow the breaking news that will roll in all day. Because it is not, the C2C crew is here to lend a helping hand! We’lll be updating this live article all day with the most recent commitments (and hopefully a few surprising twists)

Wednesday: Early Morning

7:00 am EST: Good morning everyone! Early Signing Day is here and the announcements should start rolling in shortly. To give a brief overview of where the classes sit right now, Alabama and Georgia are positioning themselves to finish 1/2 in the rankings for the fourth straight season, but Texas A&M is hot on their tails and figures to make a push for the number one spot when all is said and done. Penn State has the best class they’ve had in several years, entering the day number 5 in the total composite team rankings. The biggest surprises right now? Kentucky, Missouri, Stanford, and South Carolina are all in the top 16, although they figure to drop after some of the commitments come in today. We’ll keep you posted with more information as it drops.

8:15 am EST: We’ll kick this off with a big name, QB Walker Howard has officially signed with LSU. There were some rumors he was considering Notre Dame earlier this season, but with former ND coach Brian Kelly now at LSU, this match makes sense

Trouble Brewing?!

8:57 am EST: Conner Weigman signs with Texas A&M! Weigman is the QB2 in the 247 Sports Composite and has been an A&M commit for months at this point. BUT! TE Jake Johnson also signs with A&M. Johnson was previously committed to LSU, where he was scheduled to play with his brother, QB Max Johnson. Following the new coaching hire, both left the school and are said to be a package deal. Do we see Weigman, Johnson, and Haynes King compete for that job this spring?

QB News

9:03 am EST: Nick Evers has officially signed at Oklahoma. Previously committed to Florida, Evers opened back up after Dan Mullen and company left Florida. Check out our video on what this means for your fantasy teams!

9:16 am EST: Cade Klubnik signing with Clemson! Klubnik was the winner of Elite 11 this offseason and brings a mature skill set with him from Texas to the East Coast. Can Klubnik challenge DJ Uiagalelei for the starting job through the spring? Time will tell.

In WR News…

9:30 am EST: A couple of big, athletic WRs sign with ACC schools. First up is Adam Randall. Randall is WR17 in the Composite but should probably be ranked a bit higher. He’s one of the best athletes in the class and has the size that we’ve come to know and love from Clemson WRs. Can he make a dent in the depth chart as a true freshman? It remains to be seen…

9:32 am EST: We also have a commitment from Andre Greene Jr.! Greene is the Terrace Marshall of this class, a big fluid athlete with tons of tools and a lot of room to grow. He may need a year to develop, but can be a dangerous weapon for the Tar Heels and a potential NFL draft pick down the line.

Mbake the Mboss

9:37 am EST: 3-star wide receiver Samuel Mbake is signing with Arkansas. Mbake has gotten some buzz as a big time sleeper in this class due to his size and athletic ability. Arkansas has done a great job targeting these big athletes at the position over the past few years (see Treylon Burks for proof of that).

We missed this earlier today, but it appears that Drew Allar has signed with Penn State. He’s the crown jewel of their recruiting class and can possibly be a multi-year starter for the Nittany Lions. Allar is the QB1 for 247 sports and is our current QB1 here at Campus2Canton as well

Another one that arrived with little fanfare: Gavin Sawchuk is headed to the Sooners. There were some questions about his commitment following the departure of Lincoln Riley, but HC Brett Venables and new OC Jeff Lebby were able to keep him in the fold. Sawchuk can be a big time player for Oklahoma!

Speaking of Penn State…Nicholas Singleton is officially a Nittany Lion! Singleton is the RB1 for 247 Sports and is RB4 in the Composite Rankings. He may be the best size adjusted athlete in the class and has absolutely terrorized Pennsylvania High School Football for the past few seasons. He’s a contender for immediate playing time in a weak PSU backfield. And on top of that, Penn State adds Kaytron Allen from IMG Academy. An embarrassment of riches for Penn State!

Roll Tide?

Alabama has been officially signed several members of what is expected to be a very large receiver class. The biggest name is Shazz Preston, the WR3 in 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings. Although he’s certainly the headliner, he’s not the only 4-star kid to sign today for the Crimson Tide. Aaron Anderson and Isaiah Bond both officially have joined the class. Bond is a personal favorite of some of our analysts and should be someone you target in the middle rounds of your drafts this offseason.
