Now that we’re heading into Week Three, we have just a small collection of data to help inform our decisions on the trends and tendencies that teams have developed for the 2023 season. That being said, the first few weeks of the season are always quite volatile, so we want to tread lightly on how much we use from the small 2023 sample and balance it with some historical data as well. Let’s jump into it.
Friday – Roman Hemby (Maryland) More Than 79.5 Rushing Yards
This week’s Friday Night Special is this rushing yard play for Hemby. The Terrapins play Virginia at home, and the early reports of the Cavaliers offense suggest them to be a major run-funneled defense. They allowed 287 yards on the ground to Tennessee in Week One and then another 167 to James Madison in last week’s game. Hemby comes off of a spectacular 162-yard performance against Charlotte and projects to be the focal point of this Maryland offense that has had some inconsistency in their passing attack. Hitting 80 yards or more on the ground shouldn’t be a major hurdle for Hemby.
