MAC East will be a fun conference to watch and usually provide us mid-week college football games to tide us over till the weekend. While there isn’t a ton of high-end fantasy options in the MAC East, they do have one of the top quarterbacks in their conference and in college. An underrated college producer at running back and some possible intriguing wide receivers options as well. While none of these teams will likely be competing for high-end bowl games, defense is usually lacking and we should see some high-scoring games, and that’s all we want in fantasy.

For our conference previews, we will try to include all the relevant offensive players for the 2021 season, broken into the following groups:

  • Fantasy Relevant
  • Roster Fillers
  • Stashes
  • Player to avoid at ADP

All teams are listed in alphabetical order.

Akron

Fantasy Relevant

Teon Dollard the junior running back should see a bulk of the carries for the Zips. Dollard likely won’t be a high-end producer but could be a running back used as a bye-week fill-in when needed or if your team is hit with injuries. He isn’t currently being drafted per our ADP, so you could wait and grab him off waivers if needed. Dollard could possibly miss time this year, as he has some off-field issues that have currently been suspended.

Roster Fillers

There are no players I would have as roster fillers right now on Akron. Most of these players will be available on the waiver wire if needed at any point in the season.

Stashes

Freshman running back Anthony Williams Jr. is worth a stash with one of your last picks. If you do have Dollard and he is suspended because of the off-field issues, Williams is the likely player to step in. If he gets the full workload he could have as much if not a bit more value than Dollard.

Players to avoid at ADP

Most of Akron’s players are not being drafted.

Bowling Green

Fantasy Relevant

Terion Stewart freshman running back will be the lead back for Bowling Green. Last year, Scott Loeffler and the Bowling Green offense had an impressive running attack. Stewart could easily produce in this offense and likely be a top 60 option at running back.

Roster Fillers

There are no players on Bowling Green’s roster I would consider a roster filler.

Stashes

Freshman running back Trevon Raymore is a player I’d possibly be willing to stash on my roster. While Stewart is the presumptive starter, if he gets hurt at any point Raymore will take over. He has some value but you’re likely going to need an injury for it to happen.

Players to avoid at ADP

There are no players I’m avoiding at ADP on Bowling Green.

Buffalo

Fantasy Relevant

Kevin Marks Jr. senior running back is a top 50 option at the position and the offense should run through him literally and figuratively. Even with a new defensive-minded head coach, the offense should still be fairly run-heavy. Marks should be able to dominate this year. He currently has an ADP of 160.50 and is the 54th running back off the board. So he’s coming off the board in drafts around his value. While he should produce in college I don’t see any real NFL future for Marks.

Roster Fillers

Marks is the only player I trust on my fantasy team in this offense. With not knowing exactly how this offense could look this year, avoid everyone but Marks.

Stashes

Buffalo has some intriguing freshman running backs currently behind Marks. However, with no real indication of who may be in the future, I wouldn’t stash one at the moment. Definitely, something to watch as the season progresses. They will all likely be on waivers to start the season and the future starting running back would be a worthy waiver pick up and stash.

Players to avoid at ADP

The only Buffalo player currently being drafted is Marks and I would draft him at his current ADP.

Kent State

Fantasy Relevant

Dustin Crum is the starting quarterback for Kent State and should be a starting quarterback for your Campus 2 Canton squad. Crum is going to be at worst a top 12 player in college this year at the quarterback position. He’s the perfect quarterback to target in startup drafts. His ADP is currently sitting at 157.75 and is the 32nd QB off the board. If you go with the zero QB draft, Crum is your perfect target to get you fantasy points for your college side. Crum doesn’t have any real NFL upside though so chances are you only have him for one season. There is the off chance he uses the covid year exception this year, which would allow him to return to school next season.

Roster Fillers

Ja’Shaun Poke junior wide receiver came close to making the fantasy relevant section for Kent State. Crum is going to be passing the ball a ton this year and Poke should be the main recipient of that. With him being the likely top pass catcher, I do expect Poke to finish top 50 at the position. Depending on how deep your starting lineup is, Poke could easily be a top guy for a team. His current ADP is 318.00 and the 169th wide receiver off the board, so he’s a screaming value at the position.

Stashes

If Kent State can keep this offense up after Crum and Poke leave they will have some players worth rostering. Dante Cephas at wide receiver could be the new guy for them. Either way, it’s likely best to try and snag any of these guys off waivers or in your supplemental draft next season.

Players to avoid at ADP

Both of the players listed above are more than good enough values based on ADP.

Miami (OH)

Fantasy Relevant

Miami of Ohio doesn’t have any players that starting the season will likely have any real fantasy relevance.

Roster Fillers

Jack Sorenson senior wide receiver will likely be the lead receiver for the team and should fit in on a team as a wide receiver six or seven in fantasy.

Stashes

As of right now, there are no players on Miami of Ohio that I would stash on the low end of rosters.

Players to avoid at ADP

Most of these players aren’t being drafted in the top 300 players.

Ohio

Fantasy Relevant

De’Montre Tuggle is whom the Ohio offense runs through, the senior running back is a decent running back target if you’re light on college production at the position. Tuggle doesn’t project to be an NFL running back. Currently sitting with an ADP of 272.67 overall and the 100th running back off the board. This is amazing value in campus 2 canton drafts, as he likely finishes around top 50 at the running back position this year in fantasy points. If you’re all in for this season Tuggle is a great target.

Roster Fillers

Ohio doesn’t have an explosive offense outside of their running game and Tuggle. They likely won’t have any other player’s fantasy relevant.

Stashes

There are no real players worth stashing at this time on the Ohio offense.

Players to avoid at their ADP

None, the only Ohio player being drafted is De’Montre Tuggle and as stated above his ADP is a bit of a value.
